Technical description
VISATRON Oil Mist Detection systems are used on both 2- and 4-stroke engines. Shown here is a typical installation on a 4-stroke engine being protected by a VISATRON VN/87 Oil Mist Detector which -in installation layout- does not differ from the updated Oil Mist Detector VN/87plus
VN 115/87plus consists of a detections system acting like a switch: as soon as a dangerous friction situation is detected, coming along with Oil Mist development , an Alarm signal is released and provided to the ships Alarm and Safety System. Depending on classification rules and engine purpose, the engine will either being stopped immediately or switched into slow down mode.
VN 116/87plus: same as VN 115/87plus, additionally an indication of the damage location area is possible: left or right side of the engine.
VN 215/87plus: same as VN 115/87plus, additionally an exact damage location is possible: the faulty engine compartment is indicated, a long search for e.g. the location of a damaged bearing or of a piston suffering a seizure can be avoided.
